It seems that Crystal Dynamics isn't the only group interested in taking Ms. Croft back to her origins and telling the tale of her beginnings. Graham King, producer for the newest take on the Tomb Raider franchise sat down (with Coming Soon) to discuss the upcoming 2013 film and his ideas for taking it back to the 'drawing board'.
Working with screenwriters Mark Fergus (Iron Man) and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men), King explains, while the title will contain it's fair share of action, they really wanted to focus on the characters, their background and the "origin story for Lara Croft that solidifies her place alongside Ellen Ripley and Sarah Connor in the pantheon of great female action heroes".
Right now, there is no lead actress set in place for the role or Lara Croft; despite Angelina Jolie playing the role in the 2 previous films, it could just as easily go to another. A director has yet to be selected either. Also not clarified, is whether or not this film may tie into the 2012 game being made by Crystal Dynamics which also takes Croft on her origin journey.
