Thanks to a recently released trailer from Square Enix, fans are clamoring over a tiny piece of said trailer and claiming that Yuna, of Final Fantasy X fame, has just been confirmed... or at least her dress has. Granted, if her dress is making an appearance... then it may be save to say that she is going to as well. The trailer, from this year's Jump Festa features the clip everyone is talking about at nearly the end (4:38) and just for a split second.

Here is the image:

and here is a comparison shot of Yuna as seen in FFX.

Yes... The 3rd Birthday has a shower scene (NSFW)

News
*Note - Semi Nude pictures included, NSFW

Here at Pinksquadron we had a debate as to whether or not to report on this bit of news, as the whole idea behind the site is to present you news of and to admire strong female characters whom break from the mold of sex objects in games. This bit of news tips back into the sex object lane and thus we initially thought it dis-tasteful to report on. We however have changed our minds and decided if it's part of the game and something news worthy... that it needs reported on.

While we don't condone buying a game simply because of something like this, but we also trust that everyone has their own opinions and thoughts and will look into this title for what it is... and not just because there's "bewbs" in it.

Now... on to the news bit. Square Enix's upcoming Parasite Eve spin off  "The 3rd Birthday" features series heroine Aya Brea on her quest to rid Manhattan of a race of horrible creatures that have appeared. In this quest... she apparently needs to shower ... ha. Actually... it's due to fan demand that the shower scene takes place. Director for the project Hajime Tabata, said that such a scene wouldn't take place because there was no logical place to place such a piece. Fans of the second game (Parasite Eve 2) continued their demands to the studio and Tabata caved... as there is now confirmation that a shower scene involving Aya is indeed included in the game.

This one scene went and raised the game's rating into the D level of CERO's system (M - Mature in the ESRB standard) up from the C group it was in at first (ESRB - T - Teen).

Here's a glipse of what you can expect:

Dead or Alive: Dimensions to be 3DS launch title

Posted by in , , , ,
News

That's right, the first Dead or Alive game to ever grace a Nintendo system is set to do so with the launch of the 3DS this coming year. The 16th game in the fighting series doesn't really have much in terms of info, be it character roster, features or other things gamers care about, but we do know that both Ayane and Kasumi, two veterans of the series will be in the game. Team Ninja promises that the game will take full reign of the hardware and produce a title that "smashes up" the 3D aspect. Look for it when the 3DS launchs near you in Q1 2011.

Crystal Dynamics announces Tomb Raider HD collection

Posted by in , , , ,
News

While, not an official press release that we'd like to see as validity, the news comes from the twitter account of a one Karl Stewart (CD employee) whom - in a reply to a listing on amazon.de - has let loose that a Tomb Raider HD trilogy is on it's way.

“Yes, it’s official. #TombRaider PS3 ‘Trilogy’ pack coming in the new year. Full details next week. Watch this space.”

We would assume the trilogy is to include Tomb Raider Legend, Anniversary and Underworld... but there's no official word on that.

It's nice to see the team at Crystal Dynamics really giving Lara Croft some love as of late. This year we've seen the superb downloadable "Guardian of Light" and news has recently spread about their revival project which is set to shed light on Lara like never before and now we've got word that some classic Tomb Raider action is set to involve gamers all over again. Bravo CD, Bravo.

Female solider spotted in Killzone 3

This one seemed to come out of nowhere... even though the Killzone games have featured female characters in the past. We're not sure what her name is, if she is indeed a character that's inportant to the story, or if maybe she's actually part of a character class? Stay tuned for any updates.

Entire Tomb Raider article scanned, info inside

Posted by in , , , , , ,
News

We've been reporting on the news of a brand new Tomb Raider game being done by Crystal Dynamics and how it's set to change the image of Lara Croft from one of a sex symbol to that of a regular person. Today we've got a plethora of information to help you get an idea of what the team is trying to do as well as the entire 10 page spread put up by GameInformer.

First some bullet points:
  • Lara is 21 in this game
  • It's not only a reboot of the franchise but a reboot of the entire brand. As a result there will be no "real" Lara model this time.
  • They're doing performance capturing with this game
  • There are brutal deaths in the game this time. One is described as a deranged man stabbing Lara in the chest and then closing her eyes after she's dead. Another includes a boulder falling on her leg to trap her before another falls and crushes her head.
  • CD won't talk specifics on weapons but concept art shows a bow, shotgun and pistol
  • The lock on targeting system is gone and it now has a free aim system. CD says that it can compete with any of their competitors.
  • "I think that the major difference between this game and the old is the concept of smoke and mirrors," begins Darrell Gallagher, the studio head at Crystal Dynamics. "There was an illusion of freedom because of streaming and loading that would pop you out in a different location, but this is absolutely real. You can literally go any direction that you see and carve your own way to the finish line instead of being guide."
  • "It was important in the game to not only deliver the character arc of Lara Croft emotionally, but to deliver it in gameplay as well so the player gets to grow into a hardened survivor," says experienced director Noah Hughes. As the game unfolds, Lara will scavenge new tools and gear that augment her abilities. Lara's athletic prowess will also evolve. Some areas begin inaccessible due to physical limitations or scarce supplies. With the right skills and gear, however, the island is Lara's for the taking.
  • There are base camps in the game. Here you can combine items to create something new and access a skill system to upgrade Lara's abilities. You'll also be able to use base camps to fast travel to different locations to minimize backtracking.
  • You'll need to gather food and water in order to survive
  • There are humans in the game, including some of the crew members from the shipwreck off the coast of the island.
Now, the entire magazine spread, each large enough to read in full:

Crystal Dynamics making new Lara a real world girl

    Posted by in , , , , ,
    News

Forget an outrageously unrealistic bust, unlockable bikinis and clothing that tears to reveal skin a plenty - Crystal Dynamics says that the new Tomb Raider game aims to set up Lara Croft as a real character, rather than relying on her as a 'Sex Object'.

Chatting with GameInformer, art Director Brian Horton told the publication "We wanted to make a girl that was somewhat familiar, yet had a special quality about her – something in the way her eyes look and her expression in her face that makes you want to care for her,"

"Her skin is still bare on the arms and there are going to be rips and tears on her clothes, but it won't be about being revealing. It's a way of saying that through these tough situations, there is a beauty and vulnerability coming through. I think that is sexy in its own way.

He goes on to say "The relative proportion is more important than the actual number [5' 7"] – making her feel like a scrapper of sorts, even though she will always find a way through her self-determination. She will find a way to survive even if she doesn't have Amazonian proportions in the game."

"The emphasis on acrobatics isn't nearly as important as the fact that she is capable.
