Site Update: Version 1.2 online

Posted by in
News

So... the site is.. ohh, roughly 2 months old now and we've decided a new design was in order... :) Rather, the old style was giving us some major concerns with code and layout and we decided a new fresh look would not only be an eye pleasing, but also incorporate more of what we need into a smaller window. Among the upgrades are some better placed feed icons so you can find all your PS info on the go, a neat little intro paragraph explaining what the site is and why it's here, some facebook integration, a convenient "back to top" button placed at the bottom right of where ever you are, a re-worked comment system and a handy search feature.

We're still currently working on a few glitches, ironing out the system. Things such as: the comment system was down for a bit, but seems to be back up. There's some kind of bug preventing every post from displaying the correct "Author, Date and Comments" list... and just little oddities of that nature which we hope to have solved in time.

A possible sub navigation system may be put into place allowing you to check in on the more popular categories with a single click. It's still very much being looked into.

**The forum is yet to under go updating, that is a secondary concern.

Thanks for the continued support.

Jade returns in BG&E HD remake

News

Ubisoft's gem of the pile, Beyond Good and Evil was a smash hit with critics and later had a cult following... but for some reason didn't preform very well at all in the sales department. Since that day, gamers, eager to get a taste of something unique have been forced to scour the bargain bins and back shelves of used games stores hoping to find a copy. Ubisoft, seemingly wants to ease that search, as they've announced that BG&E will be getting an HD remake that'll make it's way to PSN and XBL early 2011. Listing the following as it's feature set:
  •  Enter a riveting new era of gaming, where diverse gameplay styles blend into one uniquely fluid and immersive experience – powered by the innovative JADE game engine
  •  Plunge into a mysterious, gripping saga where nothing is as it seems and unraveling the truth is the only hope of restoring freedom.
  •  Fight using stealth, force, and wits against the only reality you have ever known. You must stop at nothing until the perpetrators are exposed.
  •  Journey through the reaches of a strange and ever-changing universe – a place beyond earthly imagination that spans the galaxy and mines the very soul of Jade herself.
Ubisoft hopes to spur up some love for the series, no doubt it turn for hyping up the sequel which is being developed under strict 'hush hush' ideals.

The remake is also spec'd to receive the 1080p treatment along with HD ised models and a re-vamped soundtrack coupled with trophy/achievement support and leaderboards.

**Edit - We were able to get our hands on a few screens:

    Sony infatuated with Lara Croft

    News

Presumably to announce the arrival of her latest game, Sony has decked out their PSN store (or rather a portion of it) to bring you all things Tomb Raider (and lara). Pictured below you can see Lara giving a baddie a taste of flame :) Within this section Sony offers up videos, themes, demos and as well as downloadble versions of various Tomb Raider games from PS1 to PSP and of course the new PSN title as well.

If you own a PSP, I highly recommend Tomb Raider "Legend" and "Anniversary" as they are probably the best the series has seen to this point.

Of course, the new title "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light" isn't too shabby either... actually it's quite a well built and fun game... it just differs quite a bit from the tried and true style of Tomb Raiders past.

    Update

In an attempt to reach out to people with a multitude of popular services, PinkSquadron.com has gone and integrated some new options into the site. From now on you can follow our feeds via the RSS/Atom option, but you can also get your mits on all we have to offer via facebook and twitter. To your right (Over there ->) you'll find links for all three options and also included in the deal is a way to comment on the site by logging into either your facebook or twitter accounts... because we all know signing up for every site known to man for the convenience of commenting is just silly. As usual, you can also use and OpenID, Wordpress account, intensedatabase account or remain anonymous, it's all about choice.

At this time we're having minor difficulties syncing our RSS feed with twitter, but our Twitter account is still very much alive and ready to go (as soon as these difficulties subside, blog posts will appear in correct order).

Also note, for commenting in our forums... you need to sign up for an account.

Aya gets to play with helicopers and tanks in The 3rd Birthday

    News

It's already cool enough that lead, Aya has the ability to hijack soldiers and use them for her own missions on her romp through her thrid outing in Square Enix's latest; The 3rd Birthday... but now we've got confirmation that she'll also be jumping into the seat of helicopters and tanks to accomplish what she's set out to do. Included is a video showing off exactly that. Expect The 3rd Birthday to rip onto shelves this December in Japan and sometime next year for the rest of the world, for the PSP.

    Bioshock: Infinite's Elizabeth in action

    News

We were introduced briefly to Elizabeth when the first teaser trailer was released by Irrational Games and now we see her in action, with in game models at hand. Her role in the game, from what we've been told, is that of rescuee and occasional assistant to the main character... however, in these shots she seems to be taking on more of a leading role where it looks like she'll be dishing out more pain than initially thought.

Rumor: Tomb Raider getting the Reboot treatment

    Posted by in , , , , , ,
    News

PC Gamer seems to have some inside info when it comes to the Tomb Raider series. Our girl Lara has been missing in action from the Tomb Raider series for quite some time now, with 2008's Underworld being the last in the series. Lara did make a return, albeit in a rather different form in this year's "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light" for PSN, XBL and Steam but news of her grand return in the Tomb Raider series has been hush hush.

If PC Gamer's sources are to be trusted then we may see Ms Croft back in action soon. Also on the rumor block is that the new title will not only be a reboot, but all one that sets Lara on a Japanese island with complete free roam of the land; an open world if you will.

    Quoted:

"Set on a Japanese island, the idea is to have one, cohesive level with multiple ways around the puzzles," says the mag.
"We'll also be exploring Lara's origins, so she'll be younger and inexperienced in the ways of raiding tombs."

Sources also point out that this idea isn't exactly a new idea... as a rumor of the series going this way was also speculated and even screen shots released (now missing) to prove that said concept was indeed in the works. Only time will tell... so stay tuned.

    News

Krome Studio's latest project, meant to be out for a spring 2010 release... missed it's window... technically... but for good reason. Since announcing that date, the team has been picked up by Atari for publishing duty and in turn was allotted more time to finish and polish up the project. Based on the Comic series of the same name, Krome describes Blade Kitten's style:

"Blade Kitten is a full on classic side scrolling adventure in glorious HD. You play Kit Ballard a catgirl Bounty Hunter on a mysterious planetoid called Hollow Wish. Kit is tracking down a local trouble maker when she’s ambushed by a rival who is after the same bounty. So you need to track down your rival then your bounty and along the way uncover the mystery that is Hollow Wish’s darkest secret. You’ll get some help from a little alien critter sidekick called Skiffy and your uber-cool floating A.I. sword, the Darque Blade. Get ready for level after level of free flowing, scrambling exploration and intuitive combat as you find make your way through this comic based adventure."

Set at $14.99, the game will hit PSN tomorrow (Tuesday Sept 21, 2010) and will follow up on Steam and XBL later in the week.

X-23 and Tron Bonne shown off in new MvC3 screens

    News

We announced earlier that Mega Man universe character "Tron bonne" was announced as the latest female character for Capcom's Marvel Vs Capcom 3 (360, PS3, PC) but we had no actual images from in game to show off said character. During TGS, Capcom not only provided us with a glimpse of her character, but also a glimpse of another female role by the name of X-23. X-23, more known as a female wolverine clone in the Xmen universe, is ready with claws drawn to take down her foes.

Without further delay, our two girls:

Dissidia sequel announced, Tifa and Lightning headline

    Posted by in , , , ,
    News

Recently, Square Enix has announced that a sequel to the PSP hit "Dissidia: Final Fantasy", their Smash Bros inspired brawler that incorporates many characters from their Final Fantasy universe of games and pits them against each other in a fight not seen in any other title. Dubbed "Dissidia Duodecim", the new title is scarce on solid details, but looks to amp up it's game with more character and even crazier attacks.

With their announcement they gave us a glimpse of Final Fantasy 13's Lightning character in action, but now, thanks to TGS 2010, we've got confirmation (albeit crappy quality) that Tifa of Final Fantasy 7 fame will also be making an appearance. Also announced for the game is a special outfit for Lightning which comes with copies of Square Enix's other recent PSP title "The 3rd Birthday" allowing her to take on the default costume of that game's Aya Brea.

Following are a few shots of the game in action.

    Tron Bonne confirmed for MvC3

"Tron Bonne is one of the many Mega Man characters whose name is a musical pun - trombone if you don't get it. The brains of the air pirate family and controller of the Servebots, she builds many items that the Bonnes' use to bedevil Mega Man, but she's more of a nuisance than a threat. On top of stealing treasure, she has a not-so-secret crush on Mega Man, so perhaps her schemes are done partially to get his attention."

Capcom has just released word that Tron Bonne, Mega Man's nemesis and admirer is set to reprise her role as a girl who can whoop your butt in Marvel vs Capcom 3.

First look at Hawk; the female lead for DragonAge 2

    Posted by in , , , , , , ,
    Photobucket

Unlike it's predecessor, DragonAge 2 won't be allowing you to create your own character from a list of classes and races, instead you play the hero "Hawk" as either a male or female hero. Hoping to hone in on the idea of a centralized story like they've done in Mass Effect, Bioware is opted for just one main hero with his/her own story. The unveiling trailer and media up to this point has focused on the male version of hawk, leaving us to wonder what exactly his female counterpart would look like. The wait is over as Bioware has released this screen shot for those players who were opting for a female lead.
